Core Activity

Core curriculum continued this week.

Review of homework from last week

Homework from last week was reviewed. Correct sentence construction was discussed for each sentence and meaning was explained. A few new words were also discussed. 
Parents, please review this with your children. As you continue to speak to them in Telugu, they will become more fluent with the sentence construction. 

Story

The story పొగరుగల గొర్రె పోతు from printout. We were able to read half of it as the students were learning how to read a story. You can find its soft copy link here.

The following sametalu were revised along with meaning.

కాకి పిల్ల కాకికి ముద్దు  kaaki pilla kaakiki muddu

Learning how to question

The following question words were discussed and how to translate sentences in English to Telugu
Where (ఎక్కడ), Who (ఎవరు), What (ఏమిటి)

Where
       is the bank?
       did you go yesterday?
       did your parents wedding take place?
       did your family live when you were born?
Who
       gave you the gift yesterday?
       is your school teacher?
       built the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco?
       will pay for the bill when we go to a restaurant?
What
       did you eat last night?
       did your grandfather give you as your birthday gift?
       is your favorite color?
       was your age when you visited India last time?

Additional Concepts (Revised)

For a few numbers - the practical sets available in Telugu were discussed. Parents, please review them carefully and discuss with students.

1 - ఒకటి - దేవుడు ఒక్కడు

2 - రెండు - వచనాలు రెండు 
        ఏక వచనము - singular
        బహువచనము - plural

Review differences between singular and plural - in different contexts

Differences in singular and plural sentences was discussed with the examples of humans and non-humans. Please review below.

    ఒక ఉపాధ్యాయుడు ఉన్నాడు, ఒక ఉపాధ్యాయురాలు ఉంది 
    ఒక బోర్డ్/కాగితం/బల్ల ఉంది 
    రెండు/మూడు/నాలుగు... కుర్చీలు/బల్లలు/వస్తువులు ఉన్నాయి

Examples were provided for singular and plural forms. Parents, please discuss this further to reinforce the concept

Past, present and future tenses with examples

Homework

On a white paper in your notebook, write 4 own sentences each in Telugu using the three questioning words - Where (ఎక్కడ), Who (ఎవరు), What (ఏమిటి)
Parents, please work with your children to complete the homework. The sentences that the students complete in their homework must be different from what we discussed in the class (listed above).

Please note:

The students are coming without a notebook and pen/pencil. Please ensure that they get a notebook & pen/pencil.

It is highly recommended for the students to have a binder as I plan to give printouts in most  classes. The students need to preserve the printouts to prepare well for the exams later in the academic year.

Parents, please speak to your children only in Telugu to maximize their learning.
