What did we cover in the class?

Homework reveiw
For those kids who completed the home work, we reviewed it, understood different ways of using the words, took a few errors and discussed on how to fix them.

Telugu writing practice
We continued the work with vattulu in reading & writing. We learnt a few new words and their usage while writing the words and learning associated vattulu

Map for telugu tithulu

I distributed a map for understanding telugu (Indian) tithulu. This starts with rutuvulu and ends at the actual tithi. We used this today to list a few festivals (Ugadi, Srirama navami, Guru Purnima, Vijaya Dasami and Deepavali). Next week we will discuss a few more.

Gajendra moksham story telling

One student narrated the story of Gajendra Moksham. Next 2 weeks, we will have one student each narrating the story.

Plan for next week

Next week onwards we will start practicing 15 minutes every week for the performance on Graduation day in April/May (To be decided). The padyams are assigned as follows.

4. Learn the tithis for the following festivals and present - Holi, Maha Sivaratri, Sravana poornima

Please bring the books (తెలుగు వాచకం 1వ తరగతి, తెలుగు వాచకం 2వ తరగతి) to class for discussions

Please maintain a note book and a binder for Telugu class. Encourage the students to speak only in Telugu at home

What did we cover in the class?

Homework reveiw
The kids completed the home work from the previous 2 classes and brought it to the class. We reviewed it, took a few errors and discussed on how to fix them.

Telugu writing practice
I thought over last week and realized that the kids are making very slow progress in reading because they have some confusion in identifying the vattulu in reading & writing. So, we did a quick revision of vattulu and some practice around that in the whole class.

Padyalu taught in last class were revised (kalaDanduru, evvanichE). Please see last week update on this blog for padyams and bhavams

PanDagalu
From the textbook తెలుగు వాచకం 1వ తరగతి, I read (as students were following) and discussed about Srirama navami festival (pg 83 & 84). We finished the first half today. Next week we will read the remaining. This is important for final exam for verbal section.

గలడందురు పరమయోగి గణముల పాలన్

భావము: దీనులను కాపాడుటకు భగవంతుడు దయాళువయి ఉన్నాడంటారు. మహాయోగుల హృదయాలలో ఉంటాడని అంటారు. కలడు కలడు అనే దేవుడు అన్ని దిక్కులలోనూ ఉంటాడంటారు. ఉన్నాడున్నాడనే ఆ దేవుడు అసలు ఉన్నాడా లేడా? ఉంటే ఎంత ప్రార్థించినా రాడేంటీ? ఇన్ని రకాలుగా ఉన్నట్లయితే నా ప్రార్థన విని నన్ను వచ్చి కాపాడాలి కదా!

భావము: ఈ జగత్తు అంతా ఎవని వలన పుడుతున్నదో, పెరుగుతున్నదో, ఎవనియందు లీనమౌతున్నదో ఎవడీ సమస్త జగత్తుకీ మూలకారణమయిన ప్రభువయి ఉంటాడో, ఎవడు ఆది, మధ్య, అంతము అనే మూడునూ తానే అయి ఉంటాడో, ఎవడు కావాలన్నప్పుడు పుట్టగలవాడో, ఈ జగత్తుకే ప్రభువయిన ఆ మహానుభావుని రక్షణ కోరుకుంటున్నాను.

Homework

This was the homework for last class. Students did not complete this. Please work with students to complete it

Students are expected to work with parents. First, parents read a paragraph (given below) and the students write. Next, the students themselves read it.
The 2 paragraphs below - both must be practiced

బాలుడు - వీణ వాయించే తోడేలు

ఒక బాలుడు తన తోటి వారితో ఒక ఊరి నుంచి ఇంకో ఊరికి అడవి గుండా వెళుతూ వెనకపడ్డాడు. ఒక తోడేలు అతనిని పట్టుకోటానికి వెంటపడింది. ఆ బాలుడు భయపడ్డాడు. కాని కొంచెం ధైర్యం తెచ్చుకొని తోడేలుతో ఇలా అన్నాడు. "ఎలాగూ నేను నీకు ఆహారమే. నువ్వు వీణ వాయిస్తే నేను నృత్యం చేస్తాను. ఇది నా చివరి కోరిక". తోడేలు సరే అని అక్కడ పక్కగా పడి వున్న వీణ వాయించడం మొదలు పెట్టింది. బాలుడు నృత్యం చేయసాగాడు.

అంతలో ఈ గొడవ విని వేటకుక్కలు తోడేలు వెంట పడ్డాయి. బాలుడు హమ్మయ్య అని తప్పించుకున్నాడు. 

నీతులు:

1. అక్కర్లేనివి పట్టించుకుని అందుకోపోతే చేతికొచ్చిన అవకాశం జారిపోతుంది

2. ఉపాయం తో అపాయాన్ని తప్పించుకోవచ్చు

కుక్క, కోడిపుంజు, నక్క

ఒక కుక్క, కోడిపుంజు స్నెహంగా ఉండేవి. ఒకరోజు అవి రెండూ కలిసి ఆడుకుని తరువాత కోడిపుంజు చెట్టు కొమ్మ మీద, కుక్క చెట్టు తొర్రలో నిద్ర పోయాయి. ఇంతలో ఒక నక్క వచ్చి "కోడి బావ నువ్వు ఎంత బాగా పాడతావో, నిన్ను ఒక్క సారి కౌగిలించుకుంటాను వస్తావా" అంది. కోడికి నక్క అసలు కోరిక అర్థమయ్యింది. "నువ్వు చెట్టు తొర్రలోని కాపలాదారుని లేపు. అలాగే వచ్చి నిన్ను కౌగిలించుకుంతాను" అని కోడి అంది. నక్క గట్టిగా ఊళ పెట్టి తొర్రలోకి చూసే సరికి కుక్క బయటికి వచ్చి నక్కని చంపి తినేసింది.

నీతి:అపాయాన్ని ఉపాయంతో గెలవాలి
