Approach explained

For the first 3 months (Sep-Nov), we will use English as the basis for students to learn Telugu. Since these are advanced in learning Telugu, from Dec-May, Telugu will be taught without the help from English as the support.

Reading & Writing Telugu sentences

We used reading and writing sentences to revise gunintams and vattulu. Every opportunity was availed to discuss new words to enrich the Telugu vocabulary of students. 5 sentences were translated from English to Telugu and written mostly by the students on the board. Corrections were suggested as needed.

Then, a few common Telugu sentences were discussed, written on board and students read the sentences.

Plan for next week

Revision of poem

Moral story - Reading and writing simple sentences - continued - from the story. Students will read the story line by line and understand.

Telugu week days, rutuvulu, Telugu months, directions will be discussed.

Homework

Parents, please check the notebooks of your kids. I gave 5 additional sentences in English that the children are expected to translate into Telugu and write them. Please ensure that they complete the homework and get it to the next class.

Please note:

The students are coming without a notebook and pen/pencil. Please ensure that they get a notebook & pen/pencil.

It is highly recommended for the students to have a binder as I plan to give printouts in most  classes. The students need to preserve the printouts to prepare well for the exams later in the academic year.

Parents, please speak to your children only in Telugu to maximize their learning.

What did we cover in the class?

Core Activity

Assessment
We conducted assessments in class. The goal is to ensure that students are in a class that is at their level and makes it fun for them to learn Telugu. The results were announced.

In parallel, we had students speak for 2-3 minutes about their summer experiences in Telugu. Of course, students were helped when they got stuck at a few places to ensure that they and the co-students understand the right way to translate (not dub) from English.

Revision of gunintams
